POET has been brewing for a long time. I have been shooting weddings on analogue film for a decade with dreamy results, but when I opened Heartlands Studio in 2025 and began to edit digital images once again, I felt an incredible newfound sense of artistry. My love for the art form of editing digital photos came alive again, with my way of seeing more refined after countless rolls of film shot and developed.
Long before I became a photographer I was a student of fine arts, dabbling in oil painting and ceramics, studying art history and its many forms, collecting old books - especially dusty ones full of poetry and nostalgic typefaces. If POET was a scent, it would be a vintage book in a buttery soft tan leather bag.
I love to curate every part of my aesthetic and sensory world, and I wanted to translate this into a set of visuals that could be used again and again. POET is an artistic, curated, light-filled and life-giving brushstroke of artistry on your already beautifully designed images.
These presets are designed to be used either on their own or thrown into the mix of your existing workflow, a medley of tones to bring out the depth in your images. I wanted photographers to be able to use this selection to bring together a shoot in a super interesting way. For someone who is an artist at heart, I find it hard to use the same edit for an entire wedding or family shoot, I would rather include different expressions of colour and tone, grain and warmth to reveal a particular moment over multiple images.
